How We Hacked Devcon SEA with a $1 Bill - The Ultimate On-Ground Guerrilla Play

Not every campaign starts in a boardroom. Some start minutes before boarding a flight to Bangkok.

We were heading to Devcon SEA 2024, the biggest blockchain conference in Asia with 10,000+ people flying in. The goal? Run an on-ground guerrilla campaign that's dirt cheap, high-impact, and gets people talking—without complex logistics.

And then it hit us.

What's the one thing people always notice? Money.

Right there at the airport, we came up with a plan: redesign the back of a U.S. dollar bill in Movement Labs branding, slap a QR code on it, and have it auto-draft a tweet supporting Movement Labs. Instant UGC. No friction. No brainer.

We had the idea, but we needed backing—fast. So we slid into Rushi's DMs, the founder of Movement Labs, and pitched it right then and there. No decks, no long-winded proposal. Just:

👉 We print Movement-branded bills.
👉 We distribute them across Devcon events and afterparties.
👉 People scan, tweet, and fuel the hype.

Rushi got it immediately. He gave us the green light and full support, and by the time we landed, we were already in execution mode.

Armed with a stack of custom bills and a team of volunteers, we hit hacker houses, afterparties, and event venues, casually dropping them everywhere. People picked them up, scanned the code, and tweets started flooding in. The FOMO kicked in — if you didn't have a Movement dollar, were you even at Devcon?

A last-minute on-ground guerrilla campaign. Executed in 24 hours. Blown-up impact. Just another day at The Unpaid Company. 🚀
